What are the system requirements to play?

Currently the game is still in early development and we have not yet managed to optimise the game to run on our desired minimum specification. Therefore if you wish to participate at this early stage, please make sure you have a system similar to the below requirements:

Operating System: Windows 7 (64 bit) or above.
CPU: Intel(R) Core (TM) i5 processor or AMD equivalent.
Memory: 8 GB or more.
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 TI or equivalent.
HDD: 6GB free space.

We are aiming to improve on these requirements in the future.


Can I play on Mac or Linux?

Right now CardLife is only available on Windows while we develop the game. We plan to make it available for other Operating Systems such as Mac at a later date.

However, we will make timely announcements of any other future versions of the game.


Account Management

I am a Founder, can I transfer my CardLife: Founder's Edition copy over to Steam?

For CardLife Founders, you’ll be able to transfer your ownership of CardLife across to Steam as soon as it launches on Steam. The CardLife team will go through the process on how to do this via email, Be sure to keep an eye on your inboxes when CardLife launches on Steam on October 9th.


I’d like to change my username

Unfortunately we cannot change usernames on existing account at the moment. This is something we might add in the future.


I’d like to change my  password, or I’ve forgotten it.

Click 'forgot your password?’ in the CardLife launcher, or follow this link to reset it. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, please follow the support ticket instructions.


I'm having issues with my user account/email verification

We have occasional slight delays between setting up the account and access being granted. Please try again in a few minutes, and if the problem persists submit a support request.


Launcher/Login Issue

I can't launch the game, the error message reads "Launcher already running. Please ensure the launcher is closed and run again".

This issue can often be resolved by restarting your machine. If this doesn't work, try running CardLife as an administrator (right click, then select 'run as administrator'). If this doesn't work, please submit a support request.


An error happens after I load my game from a server

We will need you to tell us or show us what the error/problem is and send us the log file at the time the issue happened. If you are not sure, please replicate this error and then close the game and go to the CardLife game folder saved on your local drive C:\ normally, \Games\CardLife\Logs. Find files called log_ and sort them by date and send us the latest log_client_ and log_server files.

Please also tell us:-

  • your system specification,
  • singleplayer or multiplayer,
  • the server name and number you joined (official or custom)
  • are you running any mods.

Hosting a custom server?

It will be very useful to to send your output_log text file which can be found here C:\Users\username\AppData\LocalLow\CardLife\CardLife

The name of the file is output_log.

If this is not shown then the file is hidden, this is a good informative link how to do unhide the files


Game play/In-Game Issues

How do I play CardLife? What do I do once I’m in the game?

This video shows you how to get started in your cardboard adventure - give it a watch! If it doesn’t answer your questions then head to our dedicated support forum, or the game’s Discord channel.


How do I gather materials?

When you start the game you’ll just have your bare hands. You can dig in the dirt, harvest berries, or even bring down trees with these. Once you’ve gathered the raw materials (i.e. wood) to make tools, you’ll be able to create an axe, pick, a shovel, or other tools.


I can’t open doors?

You can’t currently access the buildings of other players. Once you have built your own home you will be able to open doors, access chests, etc., with the ‘E’ key.


Payment Issues

I’m having payment issues, how can I resolve this?

If you have purchased CardLife directly from our website, then please get in touch with us! We will need the transaction ID number from our payment partner Xsolla. This will be visible in the email receipt for the game.

If you did not purchase directly from us, please tell us if it is via or Green Man Gaming.

We will then be able to look into the issue on a case-by-case basis.



Is CardLife Free to Play?

CardLife is not a Free to Play title.

We're currently offering a heavy discount while we work on the game. This will get you access to the game now as well as all future updates.

The only exception to this would be any future major expansions we may develop.


Is CardLife on Steam?

Yes, it will be available on Steam from October 9th, 2018.


Can I Mod CardLife?

Modding is an integral part of our development.

Everything we add to the game we want to be moddable, so you can create a custom server with your own unique content from different vehicles, creatures, materials and so on.

Due to the nature of our game and how it is built out of cardboard, this means we can offer an incredibly simple way of creating new content! Everything is a collection of 2D shapes and creating a new creature, for example, can be as easy as editing a few text files and images.


Can I stream or make a video about CardLife?
